You'd be surprised to find out how many people who shop at Costco or Sam's club are actually re-selling their purchases on eBay. We've heard from insiders that many eBay sellers are doing this.

The great thing about purchasing books from wholesale sources such as Costco or Half Price Books, is that you're likely to have the opportunity to purchase multiple copies of the same book. The benefit of purchasing multiple copies of the same item, is the ability to quickly and easily create a follow-on item auction listing. Each item listed on eBay requires a certain amount of set-up time to create. A title and description must be written, and photos must be obtained and uploaded. If a seller has multiple copies of the same item to sell, the seller is able to "re-list" any follow-on auctions with a simple click of the mouse and very little or no set-up time is required.

Before you buy new books to sell on eBay you need to do some research to find out which ones are available at the wholesale locations, if there is a demand for these books, and what kind of profit (if any) can be made by re-selling them on eBay. Make a few trips to Half-price books, Costco, Sam's Club, etc. and take notes on which titles are available, in what quantities, and at what cost. When shopping for books to re-sell, keep in mind that optimally, what you're looking for is a large quantity of books that you can make a large profit off of. Take your notes home and look the books up on eBay to determine what they normally sell for there. If you find a book that has been auctioned on eBay, but the majority of the auctions received no bidders, that is a book to avoid. If a book seems to be a popular seller on eBay, but the profit margin is small or if only one or two copies of a book are available for purchase, it may not be worth the time it takes to set up an auction.
